VP Harris Blasted CNN’s Cooper To Colleagues After Tough Post-Biden Debate Interview

Former Vice President Kamala Harris had harsh words for CNN anchor Anderson Cooper following their 2024 interview, according to a new book.

In Original Sin, authored by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson, Harris is said to have referred to Cooper as a “motherf—–” in conversations with colleagues last summer after a tense exchange regarding former President Biden’s debate performance against then-Republican candidate Donald Trump.

“This motherf—– doesn’t treat me like the damn vice president of the United States,’ she said to colleagues,” the excerpt read. Harris allegedly added, “I thought we were better than that.”

Tapper and Thompson’s book offers insight into Harris’ reaction following her tense June interview with Anderson Cooper, during which he pressed her on President Biden’s poor performance in his debate with Donald Trump.

Cooper didn’t mince words during the exchange, pointing out that even some Democratic lawmakers had expressed concern over Biden’s showing.

“One said it was a disaster and another called it a trainwreck. Those are Democrats especially worried that Biden did not punch back on Trump‘s lies,” he said.

She responded, “People can debate on style points, but ultimately, this election and who is the president of the United States has to be about substance.”

Cooper then cut her off and quickly asked, “You debated against then-Vice President Biden four years ago, and he was a very different person on the stage four years ago when you debated him. That‘s certainly true, is it not?”

But Harris dismissed Cooper’s claim that Biden’s mental decline had just been put on public display. “I got the point that you’re making about a one-and-a-half hour debate tonight,” Harris said. “I‘m talking about three-and-a-half years of performance in work that has been historic.”

Harris then grew visibly frustrated with Cooper’s questions and intimation that Biden’s mental capacity was diminished. When asked if the man on the debate stage was the same person she’d been working with in the White House, she snapped, “I‘m not going to spend all night with you talking about the last 90 minutes when I‘ve been watching the last three-and-a-half years of performance.”

The revelations of Biden’s deteriorating health throughout his term have focused attention on statements made by his administration’s leaders at the time.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, was among the most vocal authorities in support of Biden’s physical and mental endurance. She denied in the past that the former president was suffering from cognitive impairment or other health problems as early as 2022.

In June 2022, Jean-Pierre seemed surprised when then-CNN anchor Don Lemon asked her if Biden would have the “stamina” to serve a second term.

“That is not a question that we should be even asking,” she said before adding that reports of Biden’s declining cognitive faculties were “hearsay.”

“Don, you’re asking me this question. Oh my gosh. He’s the President of the United States… just look at the work he does. And look how he’s delivering for the American public,” she said.

In a news conference in August 2023, Jean-Pierre referred to claims that Biden was closing engagements as early as 10 a.m. due to “ridiculous assumptions” because he was tired. When asked if Biden’s staff “treats him like a baby,” the next month, the now-former press secretary recoiled.

“No one treats the President of the United States, the commander in chief, like a baby. That’s ridiculous. It’s a ridiculous claim,” she responded.

After Special Counsel Robert Hur declined to prosecute Biden for the alleged mishandling of classified documents last year, claiming that a jury would consider him to be a sympathetic “elderly man with a poor memory,” Jean-Pierre said his assessment “does not live in reality.”

“The reality is, that report, that part of the report does not live in reality. It just doesn’t. It is gratuitous. It is unacceptable, and it does not live in reality,” Pierre said at the time.
