Musk Hatches Plan To Start New Political Party After Trump Signs BBB

Tesla founder Elon Musk is once again floating the idea of launching a new political party in America after breaking publicly with President Donald Trump over the administration’s signature budget bill.
Musk, who previously led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as part of Trump’s push to slash waste and shrink the federal government, stepped down from that role in May and then blasted the administration’s “big, beautiful bill,” warning it would add to the national debt.
Now he’s taking things a step further.

“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?” Musk posted Friday on X, along with a poll.
“One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts. Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people,” he added.
The tech mogul first brought up the idea back in June, asking his followers whether it was time to form a new political party.
“A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle!” he said. “This is fate.”

Inside the White House, the response was swift.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller defended the budget bill and brushed off Musk’s criticism.
“To oppose this bill is to support the invasion, to oppose this bill is to support the continued giveaways and freebies to cheaters and scam artists, to oppose this bill is to support a 68% tax hike on the American public,” Miller said on Fox News.
“To oppose this bill is to support a deprivation of all of the tax benefits that President Trump is fighting to deliver to the middle class, like no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, no tax on overtime,” he added.
But prior to the bill passing, House Speaker Mike Johnson lauded Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” as “the most conservative legislation we’ve ever worked on.”

During an interview on Fox News with Sean Hannity, Johnson spoke about House Republicans’ plans to pass the legilsation.
“85 to 90% of this bill is the House generated product. The Senate made some modifications to it. They made it more conservative in some places and moderated it a little bit in others. But I’ll tell you what, as the President said so well today, this is no longer just a House bill, it’s not a Senate bill, it’s the bill of the hardworking American people,” Johnson said.
“We’re at the one-yard line in this game that’s been played over a year, really. We worked on this for about 14 months to get us to this point. We’re going to run it right up the middle and score for the American people. And I tell you what, everybody is going to benefit from this bill Sean. As you noted all those features, it’s the most conservative piece of legislation we’ve ever worked on. You need to mention at the same time that even though while we’re having historic tax cuts, we also have historic savings. We’re going to save $1.6 trillion for the American people,” he continued.
“We’re going to cut down the size and scope of government, make it more efficient, make it work better for the people. They demand and deserve that, and the Republicans are delivering,” Johnson declared.

He added, “But when you’re talking about Medicaid, we need to make sure the program is sustained for the people it’s intended for. That’s, you know, the elderly, the disabled, young pregnant mothers, down on the luck, for example. So that’s what we do by reinstituting work requirements. If you’re a young able-bodied man, you should be helping to pull the wagon, not riding it.”
