FBI Makes Arrests After ‘Bombs’ Found Near Kirk Assassination Site

Two men have been arrested after allegedly placing an incendiary device under a FOX 13 News vehicle and triggering a neighborhood evacuation in Magna, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, when the FBI served an overnight warrant at their home.

The arrests came just days after conservative icon and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University in Orem, located about 30 miles south of Magna, near Provo, Utah.

Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, were booked into jail on multiple charges, including threat of terrorism, possession of weapons of mass destruction, and possession of explosive devices, FOX 13 reported.

The incendiary device found beneath the FOX 13 News vehicle on Friday was confirmed to be real, though officials said it had been lit and “failed to function.”

Given the type of device and its placement, authorities deemed it a serious threat to public safety, prompting the FBI to take jurisdiction of the case, the outlet reported.

Investigators traced the suspects to a home in Magna near 2700 South and 8500 West. On Saturday, the FBI executed a warrant at the residence with support from Salt Lake City police and Unified Fire bomb squads to ensure no additional explosives were inside.

The two men who were at the home told investigators during their search about “two hoax weapons of mass destruction,” but officials later discovered they were “real,” according to the arrest report. Due to the devices, the home and nearby houses in the neighborhood were evacuated.

Though the warrant was issued to search for evidence related to the bomb devices found under the news outlet’s vehicle, authorities “observed additional contraband and evidence of crimes outside the scope of the original warrant, to include firearms and firearm related items, explosives and explosive-related components, illegal narcotics and associated paraphernalia, as well as electronic devices reasonably believed to contain evidence” of the original device police found.

Salt Lake City police said both men were under protective orders barring them from possessing firearms.

“FOX 13 News is working closely with law enforcement and our risk management team, with the safety of our employees as our top priority,” noted FOX 13 Station Manager Leona Wood.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller went on a tear during a Friday evening appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” program following the senseless assassination of Kirk earlier in the week.

Miller told host Sean Hannity that the murder will lead to an all-out effort by President Donald Trump’s administration to root out and “dismantle” left-wing “domestic terrorists” who he believes are responsible for fomenting violence and attacks against right-leaning groups and individuals.

His remarks followed the arrest of Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, who investigators believe shot Kirk and who may have become radicalized in recent years to the point of allegedly committing murder.

Miller specifically blamed violent rhetoric coming from members of the Democratic Party, several of whom have referred to the president as “Hitler” and his supporters as “fascists” and “threats to democracy” for years.

There is a domestic terrorism movement in this country,” Miller said.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, I don’t care how — it could be a RICO charge, a conspiracy charge, conspiracy against the United States, insurrection, but we are going to do what it takes to dismantle the organizations and the entities that are fomenting riots, that are doxing, that are trying to inspire terrorism, that are committing acts of wanton violence. It has to stop,” he continued.

“And my message is to all of the domestic terrorists in this country spreading this evil hate: You want us to live in fear? We will not live in fear. But you will live in exile. Because the power of law enforcement under President Trump’s leadership will be used to find you, will be used to take away your money, take away your power, and if you’ve broken the law, to take away your freedom,” Miller vowed.
